The story follows Fionn Kane, a broody Irish doctor who has fled his chaotic past in Boston to run a quiet medical clinic in small-town Nebraska. His solitary life is upended when Rose Evans (known by her vigilante pseudonym “Sparrow”), a motorcycle daredevil and tarot reader for the Silveria Circus, breaks into his clinic for medical supplies after a botched attempt to punish an abuser. Because Rose has a shattered leg and the circus must move on, Fionn offers her sanctuary in his home to recover. While Fionn struggles to suppress his own inherited darkness, he discovers that Rose is a vigilante who targets men who hurt women.
