Contemporary young adult novel. The story follows Frances Janvier, a high-achieving “study machine” whose entire identity is built around getting into Cambridge University. In private, however, she is a massive fan of a surreal sci-fi YouTube podcast called Universe City and secretly creates fan art for it under the name “Toulouse” Her two worlds collide when she discovers that the mysterious creator of the podcast, known as “Radio,” is actually her quiet neighbor, Aled Last. The two form an intense, non-romantic bond as they collaborate on the show, finding a rare space where they can be their “real” selves. However, when the podcast goes viral and Aled’s identity is leaked, their fragile trust shatters, forcing Frances to confront her past—including the disappearance of Aled’s twin sister, Carys—to save their friendship and herself.
