Percy Jackson, now 14, and his friends Annabeth and Thalia encounter two powerful new demigods, Bianca and Nico di Angelo. During a battle with a manticore, Annabeth and the goddess Artemis are captured. The Oracle issues a perilous prophecy, and a questing party comprised of two campers and three Hunters of Artemis is formed to rescue them before the winter solstice. Percy, though forbidden, joins them. The quest takes them across the country, where they battle numerous monsters, and Percy ultimately discovers the main antagonist is the Titan general Atlas, who is forcing Artemis to hold up the sky (the Titan’s Curse).
