Cleopatra and Frankenstein

The novel follows a whirlwind romance that begins on a New Year’s Eve in New York:  Cleo: A 24-year-old British painter whose student visa is about to expire.  Frank: A successful advertising executive 20 years her senior. They impulsively marry so Cleo can stay in the U.S., but the relationship quickly buckles under the weight of Frank’s alcoholism, Cleo’s depression, and their unresolved personal traumas. The narrative also shifts to their circle of friends, including Frank’s struggling sister Zoe and Cleo’s best friend Quentin, who is dealing with his own identity and familial rejection.
