It’s set in a galaxy where everyone possesses a “currentgift”—a unique supernatural power—and follows two characters from enemy cultures. The plot takes place on the planet Thuvhe, which is split between two peoples: the peaceful Thuvhesit and the brutal Shetane.  Cyra Noavek: The sister of the tyrannical dictator of the Shetane. Her gift is the ability to cause immense pain with a single touch, but she also feels that pain constantly herself. Her brother uses her as a weapon to torture his enemies.   Akos Kereseth: A Thuvhesit boy who is kidnapped along with his brother by the Noavek family. His gift is the ability to “interfere” with others’ powers, effectively nullifying Cyra’s pain when he touches her.    As Akos is forced to serve Cyra, the two form an unlikely alliance to survive her brother’s cruelty and navigate the political tensions of their galaxy.
